Horouta Waka

The museum people came and taught us about the Horouta waka. We made some sand art and a waka of our own out of kebab sticks, a piece of sheet for the flags and some wood from the beach.
Here is the Horouta waka story.
Kiwa and Paoa sailed across the sea to Aoteoroa with kumara on the boat. The Horouta waka broke. Paoa had to find a big tree so they could repair it. He floated it down the river. Kiwa sailed the waka to Turanganui-a-Kiwa and waited for Paoa.
