Ruru art

For the past two weeks we were working on a Ruru art, Ruru in english  mean owl. We were learning to blend the dye, we were doing Maori patterns on the head and body. I used these patterns because it looked fascinating.

I found it easy to blend the dye.

I found it hard to do the Maori patterns, because I needed to remember what the Maori patterns looked like while drawing.

My name is Mrs Bennett and I am the Senior Room teacher at Matawai school. I think you have done a wonderful job with your Ruru art. The line designs are very effective and make a lovely contrast against the blended dye. The line and pattern almost give the effect of textured feathers. Do you know I have used the same idea to create art work on bees? Have you ever heard a Ruru calling in the bush? They make a gorgeous sound at night.

I really liked your art. The owl has different patterns in the middle and I like this.
Next time you can put some more patterns from different cultures on.
