The Walking School Bus

We were reading a book about 'Don't Miss the Bus'. It was about a bus that is a line of people walking and a teacher at the front. I think it is a good idea because it teaches you how to look left and right and how to cross roads. The kids also get to school safely.

We had had to type what the author think and why,, and then what I whink and why. It was tricky thinking of ideas to write because I had plenty of ideas but I didn't know which one to choose.

Matariki

Matariki

What is matariki? Matariki is a group of stars who are sisters.
There are nine sisters at night you can see a group of stars twinkling
in the skies.

Only in June you can see them.
The nine stars are called, Matariki, Pohutukawa, Waiti, Waita,
Waipuna-a-Rangi, Tupuanuku, Tuarangi, Ururangi, and Hiwa-i-te-Rangi.
Maori people celebrate Matariki by enjoying food, songs, games and
haka as a family. It is a time to remember the people who have passed away,
and to celebrate new life into their families.

There were tyre tracks everywhere shaped like donuts. The hot sand was tickling my feet. It felt very hot like the desert. Heatwaves were taking the coolness out of my body.

Here is the Horouta waka story.
Kiwa and Paoa sailed across the sea to Aoteoroa with kumara on the boat. The Horouta waka broke. Paoa had to find a big tree so they could repair it. He floated it down the river. Kiwa sailed the waka to Turanganui-a-Kiwa and waited for Paoa.
